The JHB Eye Lady
Team
For years I have referred to myself on Gmail or LinkedIn as The Jhb Eye Lady. Why? I’m not entirely sure other than the obvious – I’m obsessed about all things optometry.
When I began the magical journey of creating an entirely new brand to go with my name I got the image of a kaleidoscope and all its beauty, wonder and splendor. I also wanted to bring in all the colours of the rainbow as a single ray of white light as when broken up, it symbolizes all the colours of the rainbow. In Optometry we are essentially bending and moving light, and light allows us to appreciate and see all the beauties of this world. There was no online image of a multicolored kaleidoscope so I had to get one custom drawn by my amazing tattoo artist Sarah Jardim. I then asked my amazing social media company, Blox, to make the kaleidoscope look like an eye with my name. And all the small details behind the logo came to life. The further meaning behind the logo is that although Optometry seems like a boring single ray of light, when broken up it is made up of the most unbelievable amount of facts and interesting things – a rainbow of possibilities.
The message of “eye for detail” is carried through the entire look and feel of the practice as well as how I do eye tests, taking into account all areas of concern and giving you a full explanation of my findings and treatment plan.

Candeece Van Eeden, Optometrist
Yes, my name is quite unique. Legally it is spelt Candîce (imagine my tech team scrambling to find that accent on the website keyboard) – and it is the French version of Candice. No, I am not French, and I am also not Afrikaans either. I married a very English speaking Afrikaans surnamed man and my Afrikaans is nee too mooi nee, maar I probeer om beter to wees. I qualified from UJ many moons ago with a B Optom. I loved school and varsity SO much because I am a total nerd at heart.
I love organized perfection and I run a very tight ship in my businesses as I feel like I have failed if you are not 100% happy. I am very happily married with 2 amazing kids, a boy and a girl. I absolutely love life, my family and 5 dogs, dreaming of new ideas and challenges, revamping (much to my husband’s disgust), getting a good deal, good movies that make my heart happy, traveling, reading the Bible, singing and being an all in and totally committed Optometrist. My aim with my practice is to make Optometry classy again. Make it feel like the al le cart of medical professions, and something you truly value and prioritize because it is an enjoyable experience. I always have a lot to say so be sure to follow me on socials to hear it, it is interesting I promise.
